Bond and Braff
Author: T-bone
I watched Diamonds are Forever last night. I had forgotten how fun Connery was. The cool thing about Bond films is that I don’t watch them that often so when I do get around to seeing one again, I’ve totally forgotten most of the film. It’s like a new Bond film every time and this was was pretty good.
Best Quote:
“One of us smells like a tart’s handkerchief.”- - Bond taking to a rat in a pipe, and referring to a bottle of “perfume” one of the film’s 2 gay killers dropped into a trunk that Bond was thrown into.
I nearly spit out my drink. That’s what I miss from the new Bond flicks - that sense of absolutely NO political correctness. One day, a director with guts will make a Bond film and bring back the smoking, smartass, bitch-slapping (literally), heartless assassin we all know and love. I dig the new flicks but they remind me more of Arnold films than Bond films sometimes.
ANYHOO…
I also watched Garden State the other night. Hadn’t seen that one. I’m definitely picking Zach Braff as my new favorite quirky actor though I never watch Scrubs at all. He reminds me of a young Ray Romano for some unrelated reason.
I am in the middle of writing a new screenplay and at first I had Ben Stiller in mind as the lead but I’ve changed that to Zach Braff now. He’s totally the guy for the lead in this (probably never will be made) film. As an aside, I tend to pick folks to put in the roles as I’m writing so I have a face for the name - not because I think they’ll ever be in it. It’s for reference. Don’t think I’m sitting expecting these people to be in my films. Then again, Braff is from NJ…hmmm……………
