I’m a fan of The Sopranos and while I loathe the waiting between seasons, the end result is always worth waiting for in my opinion. This season has been great so far. I love all the imagery and good writing. Of course it helps that I’m from New Jersey and live where this all takes place. I see them filming all around and it’s always fun to pick out the places in the background that I recognize.In any case, I was thinking about this season and while Tony’s shooting was a big shock to everyone, the show really hasn’t had anything all that tragic happen in a while to give it some weight. I mean some real dramatic weight, with pain and sorrow - not your average “whack.”

Recently, Carmella unloaded pretty heavily on her son, called him a “cross to bear” and perhaps unfairly leveled some guilt in his direction while everyone else watched. AJ recently expressed to his comatose father that he wants to go get a gun and put a “bullet in his mummy head” referring to Uncle Junior’s head, of course. Later, Bobby and Christopher corner him and tell him not to be stupid and do anything like that. Somehow I don’t think AJ is going to listen though.

So I’m thinking, now would be a good time for him to do something stupid and get killed. Perhaps he might get a gun and try to go after Junior but it goes wrong and he ends up getting shot by the cops or something. Maybe someone from the NY crew gets wind of it and knows AJ is out on the prowl, then Phil finally gets his personal revenge, thinking he can get away with it without Tony knowing. Like he said, “he never forgets.” Maybe Vito gives him the information since they’re so buddy buddy now.

AJ could die before Carmella has a chance to reconcile, throwing her into an insane fit for weeks and Tony would be blinded with rage. It would really give some heavy, heavy weight to an already dramatic season and would definitely cement viewership.

In any case, those are my thoughts, not my predictions, but I like that scenario a lot. What are your thoughts?
